Phase 3, Faversham Lakes

Faversham Lakes

Originally developed as a gunpowder works that operated in various forms between the late eighteenth century and the mid-1930s before being used for aggregate extraction until the mid-2000s, the Faversham Lakes development is a residential-led mixed-use scheme where the creation of 300 new homes subsidised the remediation of the land and the creation of a country park around the flooded gravel pits. Phase 3 was added at the end of the project to remediate a former gravel pit that had been filled with household waste, expanding the scope of the project by a further 70 homes. The scheme also includes a linear park to create a traffic-free route that links the listed buildings at the heart of Faversham Lakes to the existing streets on the north side of Faversham, with the project also delivering a 280m2 community centre and play area on the east side of the park.
