We worked with Barkley Projects to secure outline planning permission following a political decision to take the site out of the draft local plan. The application proposed a residential-led mixed-use scheme comprising 300 new homes and a 60-bed care home together with a neighbourhood centre containing a healthcare facility to replace the outdated building in the centre of the village, an early years nursery with 56 places to address the demand from the site and the rest of the village, and small-scale retail use to relieve parking pressure on the High Street. The masterplan and design code show the site circled by public open space, including a substantial buffer to protect the setting of the listed buildings to the north and south. Submitted in April 2017 and amended several times to secure a recommendation for approval, the planning permission was granted on appeal in January 2023 and the site has been sold to Barratt David Wilson.
